I went to see Nancy Wilson (the jazz singer not the other half of “Heart”) sing a concert and was able to meet her backstage since I knew the promoter. This was in the late 80’s. I remember having been listening to her album “Lush Life” and how soothed I was by the immense orchestral arrangements by Billy May, Sid Feller, and Oliver Nelson. I could imagine all those string and brass players in the studio recording those thick warm accompanying textures. It truly is lush. I was in her dressing room and there were others waiting their turn to share a few words. When it was my turn, I simply inquired as to why the album had not been released as a CD. Remember it was the early 80’s. Now, after having lost most of my vinyl after moving back to Miami from NY, I continue to search for it. My collection is getting bigger but every time I dig through a crate, I am searching for it. One day…
